Stenography Courses, Degrees, and Certifications

 

This section of  the article library covers any education that may be required to become a court reporter.  In addition to certifications or degrees, there also may be state requirements before starting a career in stenography.

 

Court Reporting Certification
Though certification is not a requirement in all 50 states, many do have laws in place to regulate the practice of court reporting. Of the states requiring certification, most administer their own examinations.

Court Reporter Courses
The most common degree awarded for court reporting training is an Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree, but there are programs which award technical certificates and Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degrees as well.
