Washington, DC, Court Reporting Schools

Like Virginia and Maryland, the District of Columbia presently does not require certification to practice as a court reporter.  The Greater Washington Shorthand Reporters Association (GWSRA) serves the court reporter population working in and around our nation’s capital.  Freelance reporters, broadcast captioners, CART providers, and officials in Washington, DC, and northern Virginia benefit from the continuing education and networking opportunities provided by the GWSRA.

Though there are no physical campuses which offer court reporter training in the District of Columbia, many options are available.  Respectable educational institutions from across the country are now making full court reporter training programs available completely online.  After obtaining the necessary equipment, a student can begin training for a career in court reporting from the comfort of home.
