North Dakota Court Reporting Schools
Presently there is no certification or licensing requirement to practice court reporting in the state of North Dakota. Though certification is not a requirement, the necessary skills to become certified should be the goal of any court reporter. Obtaining a national certification, such as the National Court Reporters Association’s Registered Professional Reporter (RPR) designation, is an effective way to demonstrate professional ability. The North Dakota Court Reporters Association (NDCRA) is the best source of information for court reporting issues in North Dakota. The NDCRA maintains a Facebook page on which are updates about the annual conventions and other topics of interest for court reporters. There are presently no physical campuses offering court reporter training in North Dakota. However, many reputable educational institutions now offer training online, and a quality education is very much within reach. Many programs from across the country are available for complete court reporter training at home.
Becoming a Court Reporter in North Dakota
Because there is no requirement for court reporter certification or licensing in North Dakota, after a student completes training, he or she may begin seeking employment immediately. Joining the NDCRA can be a significant way for a court reporter to find networking opportunities, as well as stay informed about issues involving the court reporting profession in North Dakota.
