Connecticut Court Reporting Schools

At present, there are no educational facilities with physical campuses in Connecticut which offer training in court reporting.  However, many quality online programs are available to students interested in the court reporting profession.  As indicated on the website of the Connecticut Court Reporters Association (CCRA), it is the law in Connecticut that a court reporter be licensed.  Thus, proper training is necessary to successfully pass the required examination.  The CCRA is not involved in state licensing.  Established through the Department of Consumer Protection, the State Board of Examiners of Shorthand Reporters is the entity which is responsible for supervising the examination, licensing, and conduct of shorthand reporters in Connecticut.

Becoming a Court Reporter in Connecticut

To become licensed as a shorthand reporter in Connecticut, the prospective licensee must take and pass an examination offered or accepted by the Department of Consumer Protection through the State Board of Examiners of Shorthand Reporters.  This examination must be substantially similar to the Registered Professional Reporter examination as offered by the National Court Reporters Association.  Upon successful completion of the required examination, as well as the completion of the Shorthand Reporter Application and submission of the required fees, licensure to practice as a court reporter in the state of Connecticut will be granted.
